Thursdays 6:30 – 9:00  6 x 2.5 hr sessions (no session 1st Thursday of the month)

Teacher: Ingrid Russell. 

Hand building, project based class. This term we further explore handbuilding techniques using white stoneware midfire clay. Project based course. This term we will extend our skills with coloured clay.

Firing and glaze fee $30. Clay colours can be bought separately when needed.

Thursdays 6:30 – 9:00  6 x 2.5 hr sessions (no session 1st Thursday of the month)

Teacher: Ingrid Russell. 

Hand building, project based class. This term we further explore handbuilding techniques using white stoneware midfire clay. Project based course. This term we will extend our skills with coloured clay.

Optional: Order a basic tool kit and clay for  $50 cash on first session, or clay only $30, by emailing [email protected].

We will be using Blackwattle white stoneware clay which is available from Artsup in Kingswood where you can also purchase a basic set of tools.

Materials List:

  • A bag of Blackwattle white stoneware clay or similar
  • A set of basic tools including:
  • needle tool, wooden sculpting tool, rubber kidney, metal serrated kidney, metal smooth kidney, feathering tool, small sponge, clay cutting wire
  • Also bring: small sharp knife, scalpel (Exacto knife), toothbrush, apron, some kitchen tidy bags, permanent marker, small jar with tight lid , towel
  • 1 inch (3 cm) goats hair brush – soft for glazing
  • spray bottle (fine)
  • a solid piece of timber to set your work on.
  • sgraffito carving tools if you have them.
