APTH1 – Pottery for Adults – Thursdays @ 1:30pm / Ingrid Russell

For  continuers who have at least done 1 term of the beginners class.

Firing and materials fee $50 cash first session. This covers 2 lt of slip and 3 kg of pottery plaster.

Thursdays 1:30 – 3:30  8 x 2hr sessions

Teacher: Ingrid Russell. 

This term we will explore 2 part mould making and slip casting. We’ll start by making a set of cottle boards. Then we’ll set a model in clay. 

We will be using Midfire clay which is available from Artsup in Kingswood where you can also purchase a basic set of tools.  Blackwattle White stoneware or similar will be included in the kit.

Materials List:

• A bag of cheap or scrap clay clay. You can use your left over clay, any kind.
• A set of basic tools 
• Also bring: 
• 1 inch (3 cm) goats hair brush – soft for glazing
• spray bottle (fine)
• a solid piece of timber to set your work on at least 300mm x 300mm
• 4 small clamps
• 4 pieces of timber: 20 mm thick x 200mm wide x 350-400mm long
• 4 pieces of timber; 20 mm thick x40mm wide x 200mm long
• hammer and some 35mm wood nails,  or 35mm screws and a driver 
• a model of something you want to cast, no bigger than 150mm in any direction. Must be symmetrical in one direction.
