Goal: Participants will create a completed abstract landscape collage on canvas, learning key techniques such as making your own collage paper, colour choice, texture, layering, and composition. 8-Week Schedule Week 1 — Materials & Introduction to Collage. Overview of materials and choosing a landscape reference photo. Activity: playing with materials and choosing two landscape photos. Week 2 — Colour Theory & Mixing. Warm vs. cool and a harmonious palette. Activity: colour chart and finding paper matches. Week 3 — Composition & Sketching. Simplifying into shapes; contrast, design, composition. Activity: three sketches, start tearing and shaping collage pieces. Week 4 — Play and Expression. Freedom in making collage paper. Activity: a series of collage paper in light, medium and dark tones. Week 5 — Building Layers & Texture. Introducing texture. Activity: blocking in main shapes/colours with layers. Week 6 — Building Layers Using Intuition. Texture, layering, creating interest. Activity: adding layers. Week 7 — Refining, Detail & Glazing. Final details, embellishments, glazing. Activity: review composition, add mixed media if desired. Week 8 — Final Touches & Group Exhibition. Final details and signing. Activity: sealing, signing and showcasing.

Understand collage and how to work with paper layers. Create a harmonious colour palette for their landscapes. Apply layering techniques to create depth and texture. Understand the basics of contrast, design and composition. Translate a landscape reference photo into an abstracted composition.
