Introduction to Book Art with Bruce Hunter

Tuesdays @ 1:00pm till 3:00pm (8x2hr sessions)

$200. Plus $30 materials cash.

Explore the worlds of alternative book making and paper art, as you craft your own range of non-traditional, experimental or just plain amazingly creative book forms.

Suitable for any  makers with an interest in combining book making, journalling, storying, and pushing the boundaries of what you can do with paper.

Week 1

Introduction to bookforms, paper folding and cutting techniques, paper types and boundaries, basic bookbinding.

Week 2

Accordion, Star, and Envelope books. Constructed book forms

Japanese bookbinding

Week 3

Carousel, Tunnel and Shadow books,

Coptic and traditional bookbinding

Week 4

Zines, Wandering Zines, Journalling, personal book forms, and  other bookbinding techniques

Week 5

Pop-ups, add-ons and texturing, adding embellishments

Start personal project

Week 6

Making marks on paper. Introduction  to calligraphy, pictographs, non-textual writing and expressing

Week 7

Sculptural book forms

Week 8

Personal Project
